Interceptors

Years ago, health authorities were unsure as to the true extent of the health risks and dangers caused by sewer air being vented within domestic systems. As a result, Interceptor traps were installed to prevent this air from venting causing waste matter to sit in the outlet of the chamber until the next flush. Interestingly enough, Interceptor traps are more common in certain parts of the UK as individual authorities were left to decide whether or not to install them.

Unfortunately, many problems arise where Interceptor traps have been installed and these include root ingress, fracturing and build-up of debris, fat, grease and silt. The presence of an Interceptor trap can make it difficult to clear any blockages, but fortunately, Dorset Drainage Services has you covered with professional and reliable Interceptor removal services.

Our team will usually remove the trap and replace it with a straight section of pipe. This can be accomplished one of two ways – either through excavating the entire pipe or by smashing out the trap and installing a small length of liner. The liner will then reinforce and re-open the channel pipe and benching.

If you’re unsure as to the best approach, don’t worry, as our team will be more than happy to advise you.
